Henry David Thoreau

The man worked most of his life in a pencil factory and wore a neck beard. A skulker and a self-publisher, he once accidentally burned down several square miles of forest near his house. Later he went into the woods for two years, two months, and two days, but when he came out it was only a year. He died from counting rings on tree trunks in the rain, having never quarreled with God.
